Happy Friday Families,
Today has been so much fun as we celebrated our knowledge before leaving for Fall Break! We wore pajamas, wrote to convince people not to eat turkey for Thanksgiving (as a turkey), created Turkey Rockets, and tried to save the turkey's from being captured by the farmer in a multiplication escape room! I can't wait to have more fun when we return! As a class, we have been reflecting on what we have to be thankful for by completing feathers on a thankful turkey each day. I personally, am incredibly thankful to have such wonderful students in families in my life this year. I have never been so blessed as a teacher to have this many amazing and caring partners in education. I look forward to seeing you all again when school resumes November 30th! Enjoy your time with loved ones! When we return on November 30th students will be receiving a project to complete at home. This project will be reading homework November 30th- December 18th and based on concepts from our Novel Study on the City of Ember. Students will still receive math and cursive work each week. Thank you to every family that sent in cereal boxes! We have met our goal way faster than I anticipated. I can't wait to share what we do with them in December! A few students have not brought in their City of Ember books. Please, make sure your student has their book. It is very hard for them to complete their work without a copy of the text. Great News! Grades will be completely up to date in Focus by the end of the day today. Please make sure you are checking grades regularly. Remember, students may bring any incomplete work the day after for no penalty. After that, any work turned in will be taken at half credit. Any work not turned in within a week will not be accepted. Moving forward, grades will be updated in Focus multiple times a week as I try to update daily. Thank you for your patience as we waited for the grade book to be configured with new students.
