It has been great getting to know your students this week! They are all such sweethearts and have done an AMAZING job adhering to all the new rules and procedures. I am truly impressed with their ability to persevere through everything we have thrown at them, especially the use of masks. This year, your child will be participating in novel studies! Along with applying our grade level standards, novel studies have a plethora of benefits! They are great for building background and world exposure, introducing authentic vocabulary, practice with communication/dialogue skills, developing better social skills, and providing engagement and excitement for learning. Each semester in 4th grade, we will focus on a different novel. However, due to our inability to share materials this year, each student will need to have their own copy of the books. Your child will be using a digital reading log, Readtheory, and Prodigy. Readtheory (reading) and Prodigy (math) are self-leveling internet programs that meet your child at their level and continue to push them toward their goals!
