Happy Friday Families!
I know this past week was not what we expected and hoped for, but I am so thankful I have such amazing families to partner with this year. I just want to apologize for having a few interruptions while teaching. With an almost two-year-old running around, though Isabel LOVED seeing all your kids in our live sessions teaching from home proved to be a challenge. I am SOOOO ready to be back brick and mortar on Monday! I want to assure you, I have been tested for Covid and it has come back negative. I can’t wait to see your kids in person and get back to our normal routine. By the end of the day today, emails will be sent to each student with a list of missing assignments. Please, make sure your child checks their Plato email and any missing work from this week gets completed by Friday 2/5. Reminder: We will be beginning our next novel study this Monday, February 1st. Students will need to bring their copy of The Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library (Book 1) by Chris Grabenstein. Please, make sure your student has their book THIS Monday, February 1st. As you may have noticed, we have a new behavior system that started this week. Students are able to move up and down on a behavior chart in the classroom depending on their actions. Wherever the magnet is at the end of the day gets recorded on a log and correlates to points for our classroom store. Any student who has moved up off the chart also gets a prize from our treasure box. This log is to be signed nightly by a parent or guardian. It is the student's responsibility to bring you the log to sign each night. When students come into the classroom with a signed log, they get to move up on our chart first thing! After the log is completed, we will reflect on our behavior and set a goal for the next chart. So far, students are enjoying the new system and really committing to classroom expectations. Supplies: Our class is in need of small prizes to be used as treasure box items, we are running through treasure box items much faster with our new behavior plan. Thank you to all who have sent in paper and markers this past week, it is greatly appreciated. We will be beginning our next novel study Monday, February 1st. Students will need to bring their copy of The Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library (Book 1) by Chris Grabenstein. Please make sure your student has their book on or before February 1st. Don't Forget! School is closed for students and staff on Monday, January 18th and for students Tuesday, January 19th. Classes will resume January 20th for the start of the new grading period. I hope the start of this year is treating you well. I know it has been great to spend time with my family, reflecting on our year and to begin setting goals for the new year. I am excited to get back to school and to hear all about your winter breaks! This week will be beginning short units as we prepare for the end of the grading period on January 15th. Shhhhh! It's a surprise! National School Guardian Appreciation Day is January 9; we will celebrate it on Friday, January 8. To show our love and appreciation for Officer Michelle, let's all wear YELLOW on Friday. Uniform bottoms are required. Imagine her excitement when she is greeting kids in the morning and they are all wearing yellow! Please remember: When we come back from break, please know it is expected for you to report to Ms. West if your child has any Covid-19 like symptoms, has been exposed to a person who has tested positive for Covid 19, has a pending Covid-19 test result, or is Covid-19 positive. Furthermore, if you are waiting for your child’s test results please know your child may not return to school without evidence of a negative test result or if positive until they have completed their required isolation period and a physician’s written release to return to school is provided.
